Blessing and Dedication of Mazenod’s Central Courtyard

Wednesday, 14 May 2025

On Monday, 12 May, the College community gathered for the official opening and dedication of the Central Courtyard Redevelopment. The ceremony was led by Dr Paul Shannon, Principal, and included a blessing by Fr Harry Dyer OMI, Rector, and Fr Dominic Rozario OMI, Chaplain.

This moment marked more than the unveiling of a physical space—it was a spiritual milestone, honouring the shared vision and generosity that brought it to life. Fr Harry led the dedication with a moving prayer:

“Creator God, you bring life and beauty to all things. May this space be a place of growth, joy, and connection for all who gather here. May the learning that happens here shape minds and hearts. May the friendships formed here be marked by kindness, laughter and loyalty. And may the trees around us remind us of deep roots and branches that reach for light.”

The redevelopment provides a substantial social and recreational space for students, featuring landscaped pathways through the gum trees and a covered courtyard area for year-round use. Designed to support community life, reflection and formation, the space reflects Mazenod College’s ongoing commitment to enhancing educational and spiritual environments for students and staff alike.

This important project was made possible entirely through generous donations to the Mazenod Foundation’s Building Fund. We are deeply grateful to past and present members of our community who continue to support these transformative developments—ensuring today’s students, and those yet to come, benefit from exceptional spaces for growth.
