Software Development

Software Development provides students with opportunities for creative thinking, design development, problem-solving, decision-making and project management. Students acquire coding skills from Year 7 with Microbits and in Year 9 students gain knowledge and skills coding in languages such as MIT Scratch. In Year 10 students are introduced to object-oriented programming skills and concepts through the development of programs using Microsoft Visual Basic. This pathway can lead students to VCE Software Development, a subject that has attracted outstanding results at Mazenod.

STEM Programs

STEM draws on four core disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Year 8 STEM Enhancement Program offers selected students with opportunities to explore the Tello Drones, the Raspberry Pi operating system, Python and Explorer Robot. The Year 9 subjects continue to deliver the STEM curriculum to students through Tello Drones, Solar Robotics, and the Merge Cube in Augmented and Virtual Reality. These programs provide students with engaging and deep learning experiences.
