The VCE pivot that paid off for Angus

Friday, 12 Sept 2025

At Mazenod, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our students and graduates who embody the College motto, Leave Nothing Undared. One such example is Angus Cassidy (MOC2024), a recent graduate whose unique journey through the VCE Vocational Major (VM) has been featured in The Age.

While many students take a traditional pathway through VCE, Angus embraced the opportunities offered by the Vocational Major, combining hands-on learning with his personal interests and career aspirations. Now an aspiring fashion designer, Angus has shown that vocational pathways are not only practical, but also deeply creative and rewarding.

Angus’ story highlights how the VCE VM supports students to:

  • Build real-world skills through applied learning.
  • Explore career options and passions while still at school.
  • Gain valuable industry insight and experience.
  • Grow in confidence as independent learners and young adults.

Angus is also a valued member of our staff team, giving back to the Mazenod community while continuing to pursue his own career goals. His example serves as a role model for current and future VCE VM students, demonstrating the courage to follow a non-traditional path and the rewards that can come from it.

We congratulate Angus on his recognition in The Age and look forward to following his journey as he continues to explore his passion for fashion and design.
