Oblate Week and the Feast of St Eugene de Mazenod

Wednesday, 21 May 2025

Each year, Mazenod College joins with the wider De Mazenod Family to celebrate Oblate Week—a time to reflect on the life, mission and enduring legacy of St Eugene de Mazenod, founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Oblate Week begins on 21 May, the Feast Day of St Eugene, marking the anniversary of his death in 1861. Since his beatification in 1975, this day has been commemorated by Oblate communities around the world in recognition of his deep compassion, unwavering faith, and bold commitment to the poor and most abandoned.

St Eugene’s legacy continues to shape the heart of Mazenod College. His call to “Leave Nothing Undared for the Kingdom of God” remains central to our mission, inviting us to lead with courage, serve with love, and live out our faith in action.

Our community will gather for a special Feast Day Mass on Friday, 23 May, giving thanks for St Eugene’s life and for the ongoing presence and guidance of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in the life of our College.

Below is a message from College Rector, Fr Harry Dyer OMI, to the Mazenod community, on behalf of the Oblates.
