Foundation Day

Today marks 207 years since the Foundation of the Oblates in 1816.

Foundation Day signifies the day that St Eugene de Mazenod and four other priests moved into the old Carmelite convent in Aix-en-Provence, beginning the community life of the Missionaries of Provence, later to become the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

We join Fr Harry Dyer OMI, Fr Kevin Davine OMI and all of the Oblates in celebrating this anniversary, for the shared life of brothers was the foundation of our community and we pray that all our Oblate communities will prosper in fraternal charity.
