July 29th 2019 saw members of our extended Mazenod Community gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Fr Kevin Davine’s ordination into the order of Oblates of Mary Immaculate. It was a wonderful occasion with eloquent speeches capturing the essence of Fr Kevin’s leadership and priestly life. Guests were reminded of the time when Fr Kevin was acknowledged by the Australian Government for his service to education and was awarded an Order of Australia. Fr Kevin entered the order at the age of 15.

He travelled to Ireland to study before returning to Australia at the age of 23 to be the first Oblate ordained in Australia. To this date he has been the youngest Oblate to be ordained. Fr Kevin has also been Rector at all three Colleges, Mazenod WA, Mazenod Vic and Iona College Queensland. Always the dignitary Father navigated the copious amount of acknowledgements with great humility. One of the best comments of the day, which complimented the College as much as it did Fr Kevin, was from one of his nieces. “We love him so much and it is so nice to know how much he is loved by the Mazenod Community as well. We are so proud of him.”

Thank you Fr Kevin for all you have done for Mazenod and your wonderful example and witness to the Gospel message. Congratulations on your 60th anniversary.
