In 1996, the Rector Fr John Sherman OMI introduced the Student Representative Council (SRC), as a forum for students to exercise a voice in College life. The SRC met once a fortnight and looked at ways to improve College life and for students to have a say in the affairs of the College. Representatives across eight College Houses were chosen by students to sit on the SRC.  Furthermore, Mazenod College introduced a new House System and announced the creation of four new houses to complement the existing ones which had been in existence since 1967. The new houses were Cebula (maroon), Chisholm (purple), Anthony (navy) and Mackillop (grey). They were named in honour of Polish Oblates Father Jozef Cebula and Brother Antony Kowalczyk as well as Mary Mackillop and Caroline Chisholm.
