Mission Action Day (MAD) is an annual fundraising event held at the College to support the work of the Oblates religious congregation in their missionary projects in Indonesia and South East Asia. The main event was an eight kilometre run or walk in which students are sponsored for taking part while other competitions included a great debate, coke skulling, longest kick, handballing, closest to the pin golfing, computer games, guitar hero and battle of the bands. In 2008, Mission Action Day reached its target of raising almost $50,000 which was a new Mazenod College record. Some of this money was donated to an orphanage for abandoned children in Vietnam where a former student and 2001 College Vice Captain Minh Truong was helping out whilst employed as a Logistics Director in Ho Ch Minh City.
