A few words from Fr. Moroney
At Mazenod we are committed to encouraging the pursuit of excellence in the intellectual, social, moral and cultural sphere for each of the students, according to their individual capacity. Religious education is a core component, emphasising social awareness, compassion for the underprivileged and desire for a more just society.
We have a well-rounded and balanced curriculum in the areas of the Humanities, Business Studies, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Sciences, Visual Communication, Art, Music, Drama and Religious Education. There is also a wide range of offerings at the senior level in such areas as VET and VCAL incorporating such studies as Engineering and Design, Woodwork Technology, Hospitality Operations, Sport and Recreation, Information Technology and Multimedia. Students are given the opportunity to select from the wide range of offerings, particularly in the middle and upper school. The student population is very clearly multi-cultural with the boys representing some 68 differing nationalities and cultures. Such a rich diversity leads to a healthy understanding of and respect for our national diversity so that as individuals, as a College and as a society we are all the more enriched.
The College has recently introduced the latest and most advanced IT technology, in the area of Multimedia, Visual Communication, Science and General Learning. Since the beginning of 2004 the College has modified the general learning areas so as to facilitate the new programme that saw introduction of class sizes to a maximum of 26 students in the Junior and Middle School. Many classes are smaller in the Senior School. These developments are part of the continuously developing and evolving educational vision of the College over the years. They are also an expression of our faith in the strength and viability of both Mazenod and its students past, present and future.
